CA Foreign Transcript evaluations Here is a link to the CA transcript evaluations for teachers wishing to teach in CA. I know this doesn't directly apply to you but a degree is a degree. If you wish to have the hours / classes evaluated, then google accredited foreign transcript evaluators and go from there. As long as she has a diploma and transcript, most employers will accept that, only in teaching or technical fields will they ask for the evaluations. (in my experience). Best of luck!!

I wouldnt say worthless but she might have to take some units on the US too. There arent many accredited school from the Philippines

This might be an issue if she's going to go to graduate school, then it would be an issue. But to go to work with a Bachelors, it shouldn't be an issue. Transcripts and diploma, maybe, just maybe a course catalog so the HR could see course scope and content.

I don't know what you mean by "valid in the US."

If you talking about employment, it will be up to the individual employer as to whether her degree is something they would consider in hiring her. One employer may think that is is great that she has a degree and education about hotel and restaurant management. Another employer may not care for whatever reason.

When it comes to transferring college credits, it all depends on the school she intends to enroll in. From personal experience, my girlfriend transferred by one US college to another US college. The second college did not accept a few of her transfer units. She also works in the admission department at the second college. She said for for foreign college courses, the student has to pay for a service which determines which foreign college credits will be accepted for the degree programs at her college. It is up to the individual college as to which transfer credits they will accept. It's different for every college. Your fiancee may have to go through this process.

She'd have to get into contact with the registrar of her college and get a couple copies for her use and two or three sealed copies for giving to schools, ect. The sealed copies are usually just in an envelope with a stamp or signature over the back sealing flap to prove that they've not been tampered with.(school stationary envelope usually)

Pretty much. However, she can have her course work evaluated by the school she wishes to attend here in the US, and have that apply toward a degree her once she meets the residency requirements of that particular school. If she decides to have her degree evaluated by an accreditation service, make sure the service is one that will be generally accepted, or at least will be accepted by whatever firm she wishes to apply to.

My wife has both a law degree from the University of Manila and a business management degree from Centro Escolar University. So far, they say, "impressive", but neither degree helped her get a job in either field.

Transcripts carry weight and back up the diploma. Usually there's a short title of the course and the credit hours given. An experienced HR person will have an idea of the breadth of classes she took.

This is the school's accreditation, not sure what they mean but looked it up. Tried to find the registrar's link but my browser wasn't cooperating.

She doesnt have her transcripts do you know how she can get this, does it add a lot more weight than just the diploma?

YES because anyone can just fake a diploma in Recto. She just have to go to the registrars or in anywhere in St.Paul to get the transcript of records.

Happy New Year!

Its not worthless. Its still a degree. I got into all the grad schools I applied to with my Philippine degree, all I needed was to have my transcript validated by a foreign company and my grades converted into the US equivalent. I did not need additional courses. St. Paul is a good school too. I am not sure how easy it is to get a job in her field but she is still a college grad no matter what.

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png
