I hope you will not be bored with my long story.

I hope what matters in this VISA application process is HOW WELL? and NOT HOW FAST?

Our K1 Visa was Approved in fist week of May,2011

Expiring date - 28th of September, 2011,

My interview - 5th of October, 2011.

Reason for the long gap before interview was that my passport was not handy as my application for UK Resident VISA extension approved in July, 2011 after 7 months.

After medical examination with the Knightbridge doctors, I sent out a letter to the consulate informing them that I and ready for the interview , together with the completed forms. Then I assembled all my documents (with their copies) as listed below in a folder.

1 Appointment Letter

3. International Passport

4. Passport Photographs

3. Copies of Immigration and Alien Registration Forms:

i. DS-230 : Part 1 and Part 2,

ii. DS-156 (duplicate)

iii. DS-156K ( duplicate)

iv. DS-157 (in duplicate)

v. Form I-134

5. Birth Certificate

6. Police Certificates:

i. Nigeria Police certificate

ii. UK Police Certificate

7. Evidence of Support:

i. My fiancée

8. Letter of intent to marry

i. From Me

ii. From my fiancée

9. Proof of our relationship:

i. Letters/e-mails

ii. Cards

iii. Photographs taken in the UK

iv. Evidence of financial support (Money transation from me to my fiancee)

v. Telephone Phone bills statement

vi. Itineraries

10. Miscellaneous

i. NOA 1 & NOA 2,

ii. Letter from London Embassy.

iii. Medical Record

iv. My Bank statement

v. My school certificates.

vi. Letter from my employer

I always believe that no piece of document is useless and since one only attend this interview once, please take every documents and it copy with you no matter how less important they may look because you never know. That is why I took those documents under miscellaneous.

Interview day: IN LONDON

Appointment time: 8:00am and I was in queue by 7:00am

Part I:

8:20am I was called in to the till for interview.

The interviewer requested for my, 1: International Passport, 2: Police certificates, 3: Birth certificate.

4: Form I-134 and 2010 tax document

The interviewer handed me in a my x-ray and asked me to keep it safe as it will be required when I am

travelling to the US.

As he was collecting these documents, he casually and in a friendly way, asked the following questions

- Have you married before?

- All those questions in PART 2 of DS-230 FORM

Thereafter I was asked to go and pay $350:00 and bring back the receipt. on receipt of this receipt, I was

I was handed a courier service form to complete my data while I wait in the hall to be called in again.

I think this part lasted for approximately 10-12 minutes

Part 2:

While seated in the hall, I conditioned my mind that I will be seen in about 2 hours time, but bearly 10 mins

after I sat in the hall, I was called in again to another till.

I got to the till, after formal greatings, the interviewer asked me,

- where did you meet your fiancee?

- when are you travelling? and

- when is your wedding date?

Thereafter I affirm to an oat and signed, I was asked to go to the courier section to pay for courier service.

I thanked the interviewer and left

I think this part lasted for approximately 5 minutes

In all everything took approximately 25-35 mins

To GOD be the glory, everything went fast and hitch free. Frankly, even as i was told good bye, I was a bit nervous and still was not sure if the interview has actually ended as I was not asked for proof of our relationship or any other documents I went with except those I stated earlier.

NOTE

No two cases are the same, PLEASE take all documents with you.

It took me 3-4 months to gather these documents and each time I through them again, I always discover something new to add.

If am not sure of anything or have queries, I will call their embassy on their hot line.

I always visit this site to get more information and advive from those people that have gone for their interview.

I also visit the US embassy Blog site to read recently questions and consolate's replies .

If you monitor this US BLOG site, you might be lucky to participate when it comes live.

That was my Journey so far

ABOVE ALL, BE PRAYERFULL and ask GOD FOR HIS MERCIES (Romans 9: 15-16)
