You go visit every 6 weeks?!! I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just stay confident and prepare yourselves with all the evidence you have. Put your game face on!

Yea, just about that and it's been money draining but so worth it. Some people can be apart for longer periods of time but we are def not that couple. Lol. By week 7 of being apart we're going nuts!!!! I'm spending a day this weekend to prepare everything so that closer toward the date I have little to worry about.

I believe that it is approved/denied/red flagged before interview is given. I saw the green card when we deposited our papers. Also during the interview after we were asked our names, the CO asked my husband to sign a form than the CO approved it before asking any other questions. I also brought a recent affidavit, copies of all the evidence, petitions, 200+ photos and all he looked at was my passport and wedding pictures which I had a separate folder.

I think the same thing. People barely interact with these people and almost all see that green, yellow, white slip on their case when they get to the interview. It seems they've pretty much decided before you get there.

Stay organized, focused, and committed through this process you will be fine. IO's do interview every day and can spot unusual couples easily. You do not seem unusual , good luck.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

The interview can change preconceived notions in either direction but the interview is only the icing on the decision cake, not not the cake.

Do not stress out about the interview to the point where you guys look like you are rehearsing something. Be prepared (documents, cause knowledge of each other shouldn't be a problem) and you will be fine.

The day of our interview my husband and I brought more pics, letters addressed to both, gift receipts and my car insurance where he is also listed. The consul asked us NOTHING, no questions whatsoever aside from the oath, she didn't ask to see our pics either lol. On the other hand, there was another couple and as soon as we saw the couple we knew they would get drilled and They did get drilled, about 15 min each separate. In the end they left with big smiles and visa. The fact that we were able to tell that the couple would get drilled lead me to think that the way you behave says a lot. They looked like something "was up" hence they got drilled but paperwork in order so left with a visa (that's my guess). So that means they need something definitive in order to deny your visa, not just some gut feeling, or how you look you know?

We had a straight forward case both my husband and I are college graduates, and we are both Dominicans, we have been together since 2005, same age etc... BUT He had one work related visa denial (while being engaged to me before we started our process)and that had me worried.

What do you feel are your weakest points? perhaps you can address them now and feel a bit more secure about how to approach them during the interview. I don't think that they are out to deny people, but if you look a nervous wreck they may get the wrong impression.

Sleep well, eat well and say good morning a big smile goes a long way :) . people forget their manners sometimes specially under so much stress.

SOmethings to keep in mind:

1.You have been to the DR enough times to know that you can't trust just anyone. Those "buscones" who are always so eager to help outside the consulate know less about the process than you do.

2. There are no "cyber cafes" close by so in case you need to receive a fax or print something find out before hand where you can do so fast the day of the interview, saves time in an emergency ( you don't want to know what I went through)

3. If you can help it don't bring a purse to the consulate, I had no purse just my documents but my hubby had his memory stick on his keychain and it got disposed of.

4. Dress appropriately, you wouldn't believe the number of guys and ladies dressed as if going clubbing, then there were others dressed as if they had a private dinner with the president. I wore jeans, flats and a simple short-sleeved button-down shirt. Hubby wore relaxed jeans, boat shoes and a simple button down shirt.

I brought a beach bag and had treated it as my purse. I had all my evidence in it including my snacks hehehehe!! I dressed as if I was going for an interview and when asked a question make your answers SHORT AND SIMPLE. Don't answer or say more than you have to unless asked...

I would suggest reading everyone's reviews of their interview experiences in the DR. Having everything organized is a plus...remember there is only a narrow slot between you and the interviewer. I had our evidence in a binder with plastic sheets that could be removed if necessary. I also put the photos in a small album that fit about 150 4" x 6" photos.

I wanted to hug our interviewer too but they are behind the glass counter! He did give us a big smile and said "have a good life together, you two" which I thought was really sweet.

Good luck. Don't stress. You two will do fine and your love will be here before you know it :)

give me a break, its his job to approve you only if you meet the requiremnts..

Topic has been moved from K-3 file as OP has been slated for a CR-1 visa by USCIS

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
