What is the exact amount I need to pay for the I-129-F packet? Will a cashiers check or a western union money order work fine? Do I just make it payable to "USCIS"?

thanks

340.00 USD

I sent a personal check. No problem. But a cashier's check drawn off USA bank will be fine. Please read the directions on the application for all the details, there are many details people overlook which cause returned applications..

All the best

Payment for I-129F is USD340.

It is usually recommended that you use a personal cheque so you can track payment/receipt.

Best of luck with your petition.

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

Sure you make the payment to USCIS. Then have it rejected because you didn't read the instructions which clearly state who to pay and how to address the payment.

Always read the instructions.

340.00 USD is correct. According to instructions, check or money order must be drawn on a bank or other financial institution located in the United States.

It should be made out to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (unless you live outside of the United States). Make sure it is spelled out as specified and not abbreviated.

Clearly read what instructions where? I didn't see anything on the fine print of the I-129F which is why I asked. Sorry if I missed something obvious, just trying to wrap all this paperwork up today and I feel overloaded with details and fine print.

Anyway, if my regular bank checks will be fine, that's great...saves me a trip to get a money order.

Every form on USCIS website has instructions and I-129F is not an exception: I-129F instructions.

There is no fine print you read the INSTRUCTIONS on the USCIS website. There is also a link to the instructions on the VJ guides. read read read read. Everything is clearly stated.

Yep.. that works fine. Plus, gives you another way to obsess over it by checking to see when they cash your check tongue.gif I know that any little way that helps me to know stuff is moving forward I appreciate.

That's exactly how I feel. We look forward to having things to "check"...checks clearing, package received, email notifications...basically any progress whatsoever will be exciting, and bringing us closer to that light at the end of the tunnel

Thanks. Post office....send first class certified mail to the Dallas Lockbox, and tell them "return receipt requested", right? Then 3 days later start clicking refresh on my email / bank account 10 minutes.
