Greetings,

I am an American citizen and my fiancee is a Turkish citizen. She had her long-awaited interview at the US Embassy in Ankara on September 13, and they told her it was rejected due to lack of relationship evidence (which was absurd). But they must have realized this too, because the next day they contacted her and told her that after further review, the embassy decided that no further evidence was needed and they would send her visa as soon as they received her passport. So on September 15, she sent her passport to the embassy. It it now September 26th and she still has not received her passport+visa along with the sealed packet. I have called the embassy repeatedly during the short window of time (4-5 pm monday-thursday) but have never gotten through the phone menu. The phone menu says to call back between 4 and 5, even if it is between 4 and 5. Connecting to a operator only results in them redirecting me to the automated menu again. I assume this means they are busy, but I'm not sure. I am here in Ankara with her at the moment, so I can walk to the embassy and talk with them, which is what I may end up doing. I am only here until October 9th, and already have plane tickets for both of us back to the US. We are both stressed but unsure if there is anything else we can do while in this limbo state. Can anyone offer any advice, or relate with similar experiences?

Thanks very much,

Thomas

That's great news to hear you are approved. Congrats! Do you mind if I ask how long your process took from start to finish?

OK, the embassy obviously just read my post, because UPS just contacted us with notification that they received the packet and will deliver it tomorrow. Yay! :D

From what I read, Ankara is a pretty good embassy in terms of visa approvals.

Just of curiosity, what types of evidence did you submit at your interview and how much of each?

Glad it worked out in the end
