Hi!

I would like to thank you in advance for answering.

I am preparing my i-130 package for my husband and was just wondering about the medical examination. He is outside of the USA and I am in the USA. I an appointment letter on where to go for the medical exam, as well as the date sent after we apply? Or is this something we have to schedule ourselves?

He'll be doing the medical after the NVC does it's thing post the USCIS acceptance of the I-130 petition. So you have plenty of time to get the medical ready. Might want to get your timeline fixed if it needs it since it has some conflicting info that prevents people from giving you timely help/responses. Best of luck with your journey!!

Check with your embassy/consulate. Some require that you get through NVC first while others encourage you to get the medical ahead of time. Don't rely on anyone here unless they have recently gone through your embassy/consulate...I can tell you everything about Costa Rica, but so what--it doesn't apply to you.

But for others reading this that might be from Costa Rice, we did the medical before we were even though USCIS--almost three months before we were done with NVC.

Thanks Magical, since you are applying and consulate is Armenia, I'd naturally guess you'll go by the Armenian Embassy's direction?? hey... i dont understand why visa journey keeps saying in my timeline that its Armenia.. its actually Barbados. I keep changing it but it reverts back to Armenia. I will call my embassy. Thanks a lot for your help.

I found the info guys:

Where and when will the immigrant visa medical examination take place?

Applicants for U.S. immigrant visas must undergo the mandatory medical examination only at the designated facility - The Diagnostic Clinic in Barbados. The contact information for the facility is below. You should contact the facility directly to schedule an appointment. Please note that the exam must be completed before your immigrant visa interview can take place.

So I suppose we should schedule the medical when we get our interview date?

No harm in waiting until then, but it looks like you can do it earlier if you want. the key is to understand that it MUST still be valid when he enters the US, so don't do it too early, particularly if he won't immigrate for several months after the eventual approval 8 or so months down the road.

J-Dzzy, are you on Barbados? We're in the BVI but Barbados is our Embassy. Since we have to travel for the interview we were thinking to go a bit earlier and do the medical on the same trip. Can you let me know how long it takes to get the results? We don't have the NOA2 yet but we're hoping it comes soon!

Any help would be great!
