The NVC wants originals: (In my case)

BIRTH CERTIFICATE

POLICE CERTIFICATE

DIVORCE DECREE

ORIGINAL MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

Then completes it's case.

I have read: 'Ensure that all necessary original documents will be available at the time of the interview'

Does this mean I have to get all those documents again? Or will we just need the passort, etc and supporting evidence of relationship?

Originals submitted to NVC are sent to the Consulate so they will be avaliable at the interview. If you alos provide copies or bring copies to the interview I've heard you can get the originals returned to you.

You should have provided good copies with your application, take the originals and a copy with you for their inspection if needed. Pretty standard.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

That's not true, as the OP correctly pointed out in the case of a spouse visa CR1/IR1 going to the UK embassy you need to send the original documents to the NVC.

OP - I was super cautious so I had a second set of originals of the ones it was easy to get - birth, marriage, police cert etc. But at the interview they actually gave me back the originals I had sent to the NVC. I was worried that if they had lost something in transit they would claim I had never sent it. But I think in the majority of cases that never happens.

With birth certificates, they can be certified copies. same with the others. I found myself in a similiar situation, and instead had certified copies produced.

Technically there is only ONE ORIGINAL and that will never leave the records office where it is stored. When you get an "Original Birth Certificate" it is always a COPY of the original made by the records office holding the original which is then marked with the office's seal certifying that it is a True Copy of the Original in their files.

You are supposed to send the certificates as they are issued from the source. Photocopies are not the same even if they are notorized. Save yourself the delay & get the correct certificates.

In our case we got 2 copies of everything from the source.. One got sent to the NVC and the other my wife took to the interview. Better being safe than sorry & delayed.
