Our situation: I am a USC married to a French citizen. We have a 7.5 month old daughter. We are currently abroad in France.

Our I-130 was approved in two weeks. How is this possible? Also, approximately how long does NVC and Consular processing take for a CR-1 visa?

Thanks!

congrats NVC 6 weeks

Aw, you guys are lucky...congrats  ! It is completely possible, the approvals vary from case to case. I believe NVC and Consular will take about 2-3 months. Going to follow you so we can talk about the consulate together.

Bon Courage.

Grats on the fast approval!

It's rare, but there are some cases where they receive a faster approval, compared to waiting 5 months. You were one of the lucky ones ;)

There's currently a backlog at NVC where it's taking just one month to get a case number. Then, if you're on top of things, another month or two to pay bills, send in packages, and wait for them to be reviewed. So, in total, NVC will take about 2-3 months, if no RFEs and you pay/send things right away.

As for the consulate part, I don't know France wait times. But after your case complete, either a few days or weeks later (varies by country), an interview date will be scheduled and then your case will be sent abroad.

Read these guides while you're waiting for a case number from NVC:

The OP is applying for an IR-1/CR-1 visa, NOT a K-1 visa. IR-1/CR-1 visa applicants have to go through NVC first, and after case complete and an interview date set, only then does the case get sent to the consulate/embassy.
