I was talking to my fiance today. She told me a woman on a Russian language K1 forum reported that they received an RFE for the ORIGINAL boarding passes. She reported they originally provided copies of the boarding passes, passport entry/exit stamps and a copy of Russian visa. The RFE requested the original boarding passes and another copy of the entry/exit stamps and Russian visa (Did CSC lose the original copies? )

I know VJ and the instructions say to send copies of the boarding passes. Is this request something new or a one off deal? Has anyone else had an RFE for original boarding passes? I hope the couple are on VJ because I would love to hear more details about this RFE.

Last time I visited my fiance, I left my original boarding passes with her to take to interview. Should she mail those passes back to me in case we get a request for the originals?

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing VJers suggestions.

This is not a routine request, and just because someone else was asked for something, does not mean you will be. Perhaps the adjudicator felt the copies were not clear, or they suspected they were faked and would like to see the originals. You never know. I am sure they had their reasons for asking for that particular evidence from that particular petitioner.

I would have your fiancee hold onto the originals to take to her interview unless you get an RFE that brings up the need for her to send them back.

For most cases the USCIS need to have the copy of the documents. I haven’t seen this office requesting the original document for the boarding pass. You could be asked at the Embassy. On the top of that there will be some reason that they need to request the original documentations. I don’t think you will have this problem. However if there is some kind of fake looking document, they might need to see the original.

Good luck

There is no requirement to fly to meet your fiancee so NO they would not normally do that. Passport stamps are sufficient to prove you were in the country, they do not care HOW you got there. My guess is that the copies f the borading passes were not legible and/or there was not other evidence of meeting

The requirement is to provide evidence of meeting in person, NOT evidence you flew on a plane. If they have specifically requested the original boarding passes then YES she should send them back. It is really a good idea to keep ALL the originals in one place anyway.
