Good, but not certain. What's your back-up plan?

Stuff happens-- embassy computers go down so delay(us), courier truck breaks down so skips your delivery that day(us), riots break out in London and embassy closes, visa printer breaks down, you don't take the right papers and embassy puts you on hold, embassy puts you in AP for 8 weeks.... Ya rolls the dice, ya takes yer chances.

Never book anything until you have your brown envelope and passport with visa inside is in your hands. As Nich-Nick said, you should have it back in time but that is by no means certain.

Good luck and safe journey over.

well, they say 3-5 days in the embassy getting printed and stuff i paid for hte next day delivery and it took me 15 days to actually get it in hand, due to the bank holidays, so i wouldn't have booked without getting the passport in hand, i think it is unlikely you will get it in time unless you are super lucky, and they do tell you not to book anything until you have it in hand

Rugby guy, I'm wondering the same thing. As of now, a return flight it scheduled for October 8, however I wonder if our interview will be scheduled before that date. I guess if not, it'll only be a visit and then return to interview.

I saw on your profile that your packet had not initially been recieved...how were you aware that the packet was not recieved? Did they contact you via phone or letter? Our packet was sent to the embassy, from london, on the 27th of august.

I called DOS and they informed me the packet was not logged 2 weeks after sending it. I called the embassy in london who gave me an email code. I emailed the embassy and they informed me my packet was never received. Luckily we had used an attorney so all our forms were filled out already and saved in a document so I sent out the packet the same day. Call the embassy on the extortion hotline and they will give you an email code. Its worth the financial bite to have the peace of mind. Any other help you need just let me know.

Just be warned, us customs can deny you entry based on the fact you have a visa pending. I travelled during the time between my noa2 date and I was questioned thouroughly. Get a letter from your work stating that they expect you back at work when your trip ends. Also take any other proof to show the customs officer you intend to return to the uk. They may think you are planning on staying permanantly and deny you entry.

Thank you so much for your help! If I call the embassy, will they give me an email that I need to send it to? I've heard of the email code, but hadn't tried to contact them that way yet. So I should just call the embassy and ask the operator for an email & code?

call the embassy and tell them you have been told by DOS that your package has not arrived. they will give you a code to put in the header of the email (if i thought it would work id give you the code is used but im fairly certain they change it frequently). in the email include your case number, name and DOB. explain that you are worried that your package has not been received and you should get a response fairly quickly.

Immigration doesn't deny entry based on a visa pending. They base it on if they suspect you may not be returning to your home country. There is no record of your pending visa on the computer screens at the airport either. Well, 3 different times I asked CBP officers that question and each told me they don't have that on their systems so I figured it must be accurate.

I went to the USA twice during my process, once after NOA1 and once just before NOA2 and I was not asked anything at POE. I was asked to show return itinerary the first time, and the second time I asked if the guy wanted to see it and he said no like I was an idiot! This was a 6 week trip too.

I think being prepared is the best thing to do, I was paranoid I would get turned away both times so I brought everything I could think of. I think it depends what kind of officer you get, and there are plenty of a holes out there!
