AOS Approved for me, kids need biometrics before approval?

Hi all,

Finally, after many hiccups, my AOS was approved in SF yesterday. The interview was pretty smooth and all went well until the officer tried to approve myself and my two kids in the computer. My approval went smooth. However, he couldn't approve the kids on the computer as he said they needed to have their biometrics done. When I received my biometrics appointment, earlier this year, I was told that they didn't need to have their biometrics done because of their ages - 10 and 12. Now, I have been told they do need to have it done.

Anyone got any experience with kids and biometrics? Do they need it to be done or not?

Thanks

Lisa

Hi,

My children were 13 and 15 and they both had to have biometrics done.

The 15 year old had to have full biometrics done, she was classed as an adult, but my 13 year old son only needed one finger print and a photo done not a full set of prints as he was classed as a child.

Hope this helps

Being that your children are under 14 they do not have to have the entire finger/handprinting that you had done but they will need their pictures taken (and one print if I remember right) for their green cards. They definately do need Biometrics appointments.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I guess the USCIS stuffed up on our case yet again. I was only sent the one appointment letter for Biometrics and when I phoned the mis-information line to question if the kids should attend they told me NO.

Anyway, I was told by the immigration officer that I didn't need an appointment to have their biometrics done and that I should just turn up. I will do that later this week.

It feels so nice to be approved, FINALLY! YAY!

My 7 year old had his biometrics done and we are approved and just waiting on the green card.

What is suprising is that you didn't get a letter inviting them to go to the bios, I did for my son.

Anyway, I am sure it won't be too difficult to get this sorted :)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Yes, kids have to have biometrics. You just don't pay the big fee for it.

My six year old had to get her picture taken and her thumb printed. Then she had to sign her name in a little box on the computer. The guy there said she will have to come back when she's 14 for a full set of prints. I received a separate letter for her biometrics.

Feb. 15/ 07 --- GC approved
