Stockholm Embassy now handles ALL cases from Scandinavia

To anyone from Norway, Sweden, or Denmark, I received a notice from the NVC stating that my case had been transferred to Stockholm from Oslo. I called the NVC and they had confirmed that all cases from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark will be handled through the embassy in Stockholm from now on but they gave no reason. I just thought I would inform everyone.

Okay - I wondered what would slow us down next. First a case that sat in the CSC mailroom for a month for no good reason. 2 eaningless RFE's, an earthquake, a hurricane... and now an embassy consular consolidation. crud. October interview might not be possible now. darn!

IR-1/CR-1 Spouse CA Svc Ctr 2011 (82 days) Apr07: NOA1. Jun27: NOA2 text.
Delivery from USCIS to NVC (24 days) Jul21: CSC mailed it to NVC

NVC (43 days)
Jul25: "in the NVC bldg"---->Jul26: NVC Case#,IIN# (1 day in-house, 29 days since NOA2)

AOS i-864.....Jul28: bill rcv'd (2 days)& paid ---->Aug01: "paid"/mailed (4 days). Aug3: AOS in the bldg
Aug 11: phone rep "AOS RFE: 23/24a: no blanks" (pdf won't print n/a"). Fedex'd new copy (arrived Aug 12)
Aug 22: AOS approved

IV ds-230:
Jul26: send DS-3032 ----> Jul29: DS-3032 accepted (3 days)
Aug01: bill rcv'd (2 days)& paid ---->Aug02: "paid"/mailed (1 day)
Aug04:ds-230 delivered ---> Aug 12: "under review"
Aug 15: phone rep "RFE:ds-230 #30." (16th bdate left as "----") Fedex'd new copy (arrived Aug 16)
Aug 30: phone rep: "no military record." me: "it's there!" rep: "15 biz days starting today"
Sep 06: phone rep: "needs review. 15 MORE biz days" me: "no way" Supervisor asks Mgr "open file & verify it's complete since 8/16." 6 hours later: CASE CLOSED!

Consulate
Sep 13: INTERVIEW scheduled, email letter arrived
Sep 15: MEDICAL in Stockholm
Sep 23: Packet Left NVC -> Embassy
Oct 31: INTERVIEW 4-minutes and DONE. APPROVED. Visa is "in the mail"

Nov 27: arrival in USA

DIVORCE: final May 2015 - never whould have married without dating in-person for at least a year.

yeah, we had a few problems too like my signature looking too much like a copy so i had to send a new one with blue ink instead. They said it wouldn't delay anything so we'll see. I hope that mailroom thing doesn't happen with us. I sent a new certified copy of the marriage certificate like they asked and it arrived there but a week ago but hasn't entered their system yet.

let's hope Stockholm increases the number of people working in the Immigration Unit.

The American Embassy in Oslo posted information about this in their web page: http://norway.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html.

Luckily, we can still do the medical in Norway.

Guess I'll be making a trip to Sweden in the next couple of months :) Are there more Norwegians out there going through this process right now? It would be nice to share experiences.

08/12/11: NOA2

08/19/11: NVC received case

09/16/11: received NVC case number

09/19/11: AOS bill and DS 3032 generated - emailed choice of agent to NVC

09/20/11: paid AOS

09/21/11: AOS shows paid and DS 3032 accepted.

09/22/11: mailed AOS (I-864ez)

09/23/11: received and paid IV bill

09/26/11: IV bill shows paid

09/27/11: mailed DS-230

09/30/11: AOS reviewed and false RFE for DS-230

10/05/11: RFE for birth certificate (which was already included in IV package)

10/06/11: DS-230 under review due to RFE... waiting...

10/21/11: Case Complete at NVC, finally!

11/02/11: Received interview date :D

11/16/11: Medical - passed!

12/13/11: Interview at the embassy in Stockholm - APPROVED!!

12/29/11: POE Boston - piece of cake :)

01/28/12: Received Green Card in the mail

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

July 23, 2025:  Filed N-400 online
