ok, so i'm freaking out that I don't have everything I will need for my husbands interview in Bogota on the 14th *sigh* I will tell you what we have....(from memory I already sent and hubby received the documents in Colombia)

First off I would like to note I sent all originals to NVC they have original EVERYTHING lol(or should I say the Embassy has it now)

Copies of all packages(I-130, DS-230, and I-864)

We are bringing another original birth cert., Baptismal records, the migratory records, a newer marriage cert(all original even though the NVC forwarded originals and we have copies lol)

I have two Photo albums one full of the three trips I made down there and one full of wedding pics

I could not add him to my bank account without a SSN but I do have him added to my phone bill and public service bills and have copies of that. Chat history, e-mails, phone records, Screen shots of skype/MSN calls, records of money I have sent to him through money gram, little trinkets and what not that represent cute moments we had together haha...hmm I think that is it....

Am I missing anything???? (His medical is set for the 12th and interview the 14th so i do not have medical stuff yet)

Any feedback is greatly appreciated thanks in advance ;)

Before you get too crazed and take a suitcase full of papers, you might want to send them an email and ask if your file is OK. They may not answer, but in our case in Costa Rica, I sent a simple email and got the following in response--our interview is 9/8:

I just reviewed your wife’s petition and all the documents requested look fine. The day of the interview the Consular Officer will make a final decision and if your wife meets all the requirements her visa will be approved.

Remember that your wife needs to bring her passport and all previous passports she has had, her medical exams and proof of your relationship.

Have a safe trip and we’ll be seeing you and your wife on the 8th of September.

It may not work in Bogota, or anyplace else, but it's worth asking !!

DAS is what it is called in Colombia, but yes, we needed a police certificate in CR--it was sent in the original NVC package, so that is one of the documents they checked to be sure it was in the package that the embassy receive from NVC, and it was, of course.

and a new requirement is they now require a DAS certificate on the petitioning USC now as well. Both USC and Colombian fiance have to get this from Bogota. In the past it was only required of the Colombian fiance. Now they require one on the USC as well. This is a new requirement (within the last 6 months).

I remember reading a small debate on that somewhere.. I know they have added it to the requirements but from everything I've read nobody has ever been asked to produce one at the interview.. Is it something they are planning on easing into or only ask for when they are suspicious of something else?

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

If you ask them, they tell you that it is required. My sense is they are easing into it as I have read where people have not been asked for it. It's kind of like showing up to the interview without "ongoing proof of relationship." Maybe they'll want to see it and maybe they won't, but the DAS certificate is listed as a "new" requirement for both the USC and Colombian Fiance/Spouse.

OP, you're not going to be there for the interview yourself, too?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

If not, then the OP needs to jump through some hoops to get the DAS certificate from Bogota, assuming the OP is not willing to risk it not being asked for. I believe Power of Attorney is needed etc, in order for anyone other than the USC to get this from DAS.

ok, I AM going to the interview.....but why in gods name would I need the DAS cert. when I have my passports? they show how many times I have entered and exited Colombia......makes no sense and why do I have to get it from Bogota? Cant I get it from the DAS office in Medellin? Where my hubby lives.....AND can I get a link showing this as a *new* requirement because the e-mail I got from the embassy says nothing about that....

You are correct in questioning why would it be needed as they can see the USC entrys and exit stamps in passport, however, it is a requirement. This requirement is new as of about 6 months ago. It is listed on the bottom of page 4 in packet 3. I have posted the link below.

The only place you can get it from is Bogota. YOU the USC must go get in person from DAS. I think there are other ways to get it; I just don't want to tell you an incorrect way. I think it is with a notarized letter giving Power of Attorney to someone, and then that someone can go to Bogota and get it on your behalf. Don't quote me on that. I think that is correct, but I just said screw it. I'll arrive in Bogota a few days early and get it. I have not yet done it so I do not know how long it takes to get it.
