My I-129f application was approved and I received my NOA2 on 7/11/11. On 8/3/11 I called NVC and got my case#. On 8/8/11 I call NVC and was informed my application was returned to USCIS with no explanation as to why? I checked my receipt # with USCIS and this is what shows today:

Post Decision Activity

On August 18, 2011, a USCIS office received this case from the State Department with a request that we review it. We will notify you when we complete our review, or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

Can anyone tell me what this means?

I don't know about the RFE but I am positive that my background check would be okay; I am sure that if I had criminal record I would know about it. It does concern me a lot because no one at NVC or at USCIS will tell me anything. The NVC rep did say that NVC does not adjudicate and my file was never sent to the consulate so no CO has seen the file to make a decision. However I recently did find out that Social Security had my birthdate transposed. I just went to Social security yesterday and fixed it.

You might end up with an interview if a USCIS office has it again. Or just get an RFE for whatever issue they are having, likely the one you mentioned with the SSN and birth date. You will just have to wait and see what happens really.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

If your background is clear it's very possible that it was some administrative or clerical error. You could try to call DOS maybe and see if their computer has some information. I've found them to much more helpful than USCIS or NVC.

Wish you good luck!
