my USC fiance will be my sponsor but right now she is borderline when it comes to meeting the 125% poverty level requirement so her father will be my co-sponsor just to be safe. he is a retired Colonel in the US airforce and his pension is more than enough to enable him to be my co-sponsor, but at the beginning of this year he was made an offer by a private contractor that he couldnt refuse and he is now deployed in Afghanistan for periods of 6 months at a time for the next 2 years helping control airspace. he returned to the US for 3 weeks yesterday which is why i ask this now...

1) could him being out of the country for most of the year be an issue when it comes to being my co-sponsor??

2) what supporting evidence will he need to supply... i.e W2, tax transcripts, proof of pension, pay stubbs??

3) does my fiance also need to provide the same kind of things even though i have a co-sponsor??

4) because my co-sponsor will be in Afghanistan is it possible for him to fill out the I-134 and sort out the supporting evidence now even though it will be maybe 6+ months before it is needed... maybe include a cover letter explaining the reason for this??

the embassy i will have my interview will be London.

thank you all so much for all the help you give :star:

I imagine that he still maintains his place of residence in the USA. I really doubt he'll be applying for residence in Afghanistan.

You can certainly gather as much of the evidence possible now. You should be having your interview before the deadline for 2011 taxes, so the 2010 tax information will be what is needed anyway. If he will still be receiving his pension whilst working then proof of that will be gatherable now. If his pension puts him above the required level then you don't need to worry too much about getting extra evidence from his current job: yes you will probably want to get something but you will not need his most recent pay stubs.

awesome... thank you

To address question 3): yes, your fiancee needs to fill out her own I-134 and provide supporting documents, even if her father will be her co-sponsor.

ok thank you
