Hi i've sent my petition on august 4th and just received a hard copy of my NOA1. Does this mean that it has started to go through the NOA2 process now or wait until i receive another notice? Also do i have to do anything else during this time?

by the way is it true that vermont service center is faster then the other ones in processing the case?

NOA1 notice is telling you that they received your PETITION and you had enough of the initial documents included and signed for them to start the actual process of checking all your documents closer, and performing the background checks on you and your beneficiary. If you have the correct documentation and the background checks go ok, you will receive your NOA2 stating your petition is approved. If you have information missing, they will send you a request for more information

Now that you have received your NOA1 you wait for the NOA2. If you create a timeline here on Visajourney, they will give you an estimate of when you can expect to receive your NOA2, which can be helpful. During this waiting period you can start to gather up some proof of your relationship that can be taken to the visa interview later.

Unfortunately, I think the Vermont service center is the slowest one right now... however, it is moving a lot faster now than it was a number of months ago. My petition was processed in about 4 months

Sept. 2009- met while studying in Italy
1/3/2011- engaged
3/28/2011- I-129f mailed
4/4/2011- NOA1 email
4/11/2011- NOA1 hard-copy
8/3/2011- NOA2
10/12/2011- Interview and Visa Approval!

January 7 2012- wedding

07/22/14-Mailed I-751 to remove conditions

01/28/2015- removal of conditions approved
