You will need a passport for him, so you will need his father's signature to apply for it. You may also need permission allowing you to take him out of the country, unless his birth father is deceased, then you will need a copy of his death certificate.

You will need a medical examination for him, they generally cost less for children but you will likely have a lot of vaccines to update him with, given that he is so young and likely hasn't completed many of the yet. He will need to be listed on the I-129f petition, and you will need to apply for a visa for him as well, and pay the fee for his application, though the I-129f you only pay the one fee for both of you. You can seek an exemption for him at the interview, though I'm not sure what the criteria is in them granting it. I'd bring him with you, and your fiance too, it will go a long way to an approval to see him holding your son, even if it technically isn't required that the fiance be there, brownie points do add up!

I have read on a website that says no need to get a passport for children under 16 years old except if the Consulate requires you to have a passport, it will be listed on the checklist. Im confused now. Can anybody help? Anyone who had K2 visa before that has the same case with me?Thanks!

You cannot get a visa without a passport because the visa is printed INTO the passport. Traveling internationally children need a passport.

On my son's birth certificate, his father's name was left blank and he's using my family name. Do I still need to ask permission of travel from other parent? Comments pls! thanks

If the other parent is "unknown" (as they will consider it if not listed on birth certificate) you will have to find out from your passport office how to get a passport. It is likely that as the only listed parent, you will be the only one to sign for him.

We had two K-2s. In Ukraine a child under age 18 can be in their parents passport and after age 18 MUST have their own passport. One of our sons was under 18 the other was 18 and the younger one was in Alla's passport and so was his visa. This depends on the country. Check the laws for your country.

Actually in some countries a minor child can be appended into the parental passport. If this is the case then both visas are placed in the one passport.

The US Department of State recommends each to have there own passport

YMMV
