I am applying for a tourist visa to visit my boyfriend in the US but kind of worried about my civil status because I am still married, separated for 7 years now. We already have his letter inviting me to the US and letter of support as well with all the supporting documents that will show his financial capacity to support my stay with him. I also have my requirements completed. Except for a "good' bank account, I have my new passport, NBI, original birth certificate from NSO,marriage contract and birth certificate of my daughter as well. I also have my certificate of employment and ITR also original from BIR. And Eric, my boyfriend advised me to prepare some of my pictures with my daughter coz those can probably help to convince a visa office that I am coming back.

What worries me most now is my status. What will say if the visa officer ask my relationship to my boyfriend? Is my status a problem? I am not good at making up stories. There were some who advised me not to tell my real relation to my bf but I think it can just make my situation worst.

Your advise will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Thanks Inyong :)

So you are saying my status wont be a problem, right? (thanks for the dropping a message in my inbox too) I wonder if you still remember some of the questions during your interview. Did the visa officer scrutinize your relationship with your friend?

Thanks again.

Actually it depends upon on the CO doing your interview. I have a friend who apply tourist visa same as your status but she was not approve. I applied once too as tourist visa and we have all the evidence but I was not approve too.

By the way the CO will also ask if you met already the one who will sponsor you in person, then ask about your income, how many kids you had, about your family (parents, bro & sis) and if your x hubby is still supporting your kids, whats your purpose of going there to the US? just answer the CO's questions that's all. good luck! have determination go go go

Making up stories is a nice way to say that you are planning to lie. That can have an impact on your future plans if the interviewing CO documents your lie. Not worth the risk if your plan is to move to the US in the future.

Be truthful. Show strong ties to home. And if you are granted a tourist visa do not overstay your trip.

Since the person you are visiting is your "boyfriend", the CO will have stong doubts of immigrant intent (like what happened to my case way back last year). So, strong ties to the PI is highly needed as proof of return.
