Hi All, I'm new to this site and I really hope I can get helpful info. My mom a USC filed a petition for me her married son above 21 in March 2010. In March 2011, she got a request for evidence to bring original docs and pix showing evidence of my diff stages in life, school records etc. She sent all d docs, and USCIS approved d petition and forwarded it to NVC. My question is thus. If I still need to wait 10 more yrs, are they going to hold on to my documents dat long? Or is it possible I'll soon get an interview.

F3s from Nigeria currently take 10 years so yes, you still have about 8.5 years to wait until your case gets sent to the embassy to finish processing, only the first stage of the process is done. Of course, the visa bulletin may speed up or slow down, so you could be done in 6 years or have to wait ten.

Did you send originals? You are supposed to send copies, and bring the originals to interview.

They can apply for a tourist visa, but chances of getting it approved are slim, between having a petition in the works, relatives in the USA and the country you are from. Still it isn't that expensive so if you have the money, give it a try.

They are asking for documetns they need to approve the petition , things to prove that she is your mother ( not just some friend with the same last name or something to that effect ) They will look at everything sent and hopefully approve the petition and then the wait begins. The approved petition will sit on the shelf until there is a visa number available to you which will be years in the future

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

If you made the mistake of sending your original birth certificate you can go to the LGA where you were born and get a new one. Yes I remember my husband leaping up in the middle of the night because the electricty was on to run and iron clothes.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
