Hehe-to say the least. Some things are too important to let other disagreements or differing mindsets and philosophies get in the way of joining efforts to do good things though. I actually didn't know there was a shared root for the word for charity either, that's great. It's a nice word and concept to share.

Did you know (I'm sure you do) that the word for charity in Arabic 'zakat' and in Hebrew 'zedakah' have the same root?

The children of Africa don't care what are religion or our politics are, if we're on board with helping them.

Peace. In matters of charity, I would be tempted to say something like "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs", but then you'd accuse me of being a Marxist.

So let's just say that charity should come from the heart, and really is not an appropriate matter for a pissing contest. The objective of doing something like this on VJ is to focus on the dire need. People are literally dying needlessly, by the thousands. Whatever any of us can do, is worth doing.

If God was smart or cared enough He would have made Somalia a place where plant life is thriving. You can walk 1 to 2 miles and fill a bucket of fresh fruits and vegetables. He knew about the millions that would be desecrated by starvation. He Hitlered the entire country off the map. They are fvcked. You cannot expect humanitarian efforts to make a dent in their starvation problem. This could have and would have been solved IF THERE WAS a God that created this place.

I wouldn't exactly say creating a more well thought out plan in the beginning (such as a thriving fruit and plant life in Somalia) the creation of heaven on earth.

That is a bit of a stretch, don't ya think?

Somalia is pretty much a natural modern day concentration camp.

With a little bit more family planning and better parenting skills God could have prevented such a place (did he not know it would be like this today?).
