I swore I'd never live east of California. Idaho is not only east of California, bway to the north. I'd have to pass. Especially for hourly work for only a couple of months. If had to return to working on the farms, I'd stick around here in California. At least it is decent weather. :P

how about gnats in your face in the wee morning hours?

or have to do your bathroom bizness behind the bushes or and overused portable toilet?

Daniel

:energetic:

I couldn't handle either one. I'm what some people would call a spoiled brat. Never had to deal with those sort of things and hopefully never will. I'm sure if it came down to it and I was trying to provide for my family, I would do it. That's why I said, thank goodness I have a decent job. I am very happy to admit I'm not cut out for that type of work.

yeah, it is not easy. and it would be realy tough for me too. even though i've done it before. there are some jobs in the ag business that are too physically demanding, but even those, the reality is you are in the middle of nowhere all day long.

On the plus side, at least you'd get to take home some fresh potatoes. :P

Almost every analysis I've ever read examining the economic "need" for immigrant labor agrees that the one industry that would probably collapse without it is agriculture

it should be noted that there is farm machinery to collect the potatoes..........

In your judgement, do you believe the farmers in the article are lying?

and if these machines are anything like tomato harvesting machinery, you need at least 12 ppl to work on the machine sorting the tomatoes. that is not counting the operator. and we haven't even touched on how the potatoe got their in the first place.... or where it gets shipped.. oh, di i mention shipped... packed, cleaned, chopped, or whatever process it goes through after it leaves the field...... :P

Maybe she needs 'migrant labor' (fancy media euphimism for 'illegal immigrant') to do the cooking for her since as an American citizen she'd rather spend her time on VJ.

 Hmm, not a bad idea! And maybe you could get one to do your IT work while you are on VJ too.:hehe:
