Sorry if this is wrong section. Ok, I went ahead and hired a lawyer for my I-601. He finished it and I sent it to Panama. My fiance brought it to embassy but they wouldn't accept it because of missing court documents, police record, and receipt of paid fine. I specifically asked the lawyer about this, but he said it didn't need to be included. I should have checked the instructions again. Anyway, now the lawyer says I need to pay a translator to get the documents translated. He has had these documents since the day I signed the contract. There's about 35 papers. I'm just so aggravated that I have to pay the lawyer and then the translator. He said it would be at least $500 - that pages are $40 per page to translate. I was under the understanding that the lawyer took care of this - that this is the preparation of the I-601. Is this normal? I am just so distressed with the delays and finances that keep coming up and the papers haven't even been submitted yet.

If its Spanish PM me, I can find you a translator who is cheaper than $40 a page.
