Hi everyone,

I came to the US with F1 visa in 2008, then married my husband (who is a green-card holder) in the same year. Last year, we finally decided to file I-130, and got a PD in September, 2010. In January of 2011, our I-130 was approved. However, we haven't received case number from NVC so far. I just called the NVC automatic response service, and was told that there wasn't a case number for me, and they haven't received anything for my case yet. How can I check my case status? Do I need a case number from NVC? What should I do next?

Thanks~

According to the July visa bulletin, they are working on petitions from 2008, so you have a while to wait. Have you maintained your status this whole time?

I am not sure, but you cannot move forward until your priority date is current, which looks like 2 years or more. I think for now it is just sitting in a vault and waiting. You will need to maintain your status here or go home in the meantime. I am going to suggest this get moved to "bringing Family Members of LPRs" forum; you'll get more informed answers there. Good luck.

You should have received your case number from NVC within next couple of weeks after your I-130 has been approved, I think you need to talk to a NVC representative and follow up your case. Hope it works

Wrong. For F2A category, only when the PD number becomes current will the NVC assign the immigrant visa number. Nothing else to do but sit around and wait. OP, make sure you maintain legal status while waiting - no forgiveness for overstay for LPR spouses.
