I haven't told anyone what they cannot post. But you sure seem to be trying to tell me...

As I said, I am not the topic of this thread. If you don't want to discuss the topic, perhaps you should find a different thread?

I'm sure Nagi wouldn't want you to be ruining her thread (especially on a topic such as this) with personal BS. I know I don't.

Thank you for telling me your raison d'etre. You haven't told anyone what they can post, your posts belie you:

"We've been here before but I'm sure Nagi is perfectly capable of speaking for herself."

"..if you aren't willing to discuss the reasons why this takes place, then you're missing a key part of the picture and all you are left with is a frankly useless display of sentiment."

I said I found the underlying causes of the phenomenon more interesting than merely highlighting the sensationalist parts of the story for reasons of sentiment.

For the third time (or fourth, I forget), I am not the topic of this thread.

No, I am not trying to think about it, cause it's very disturbing. On the other hand, I don't like to read about such things and then just "forget about it".

I am 32 weeks along and baby just gave me a good kick up my ribs. Unimaginable that someone could do harm to something so preciaous as a newborn...don't care about the reasons...

Some people live under horrible pressures in desperate circumstances that people living in first world countries have no conception of. I'd bet the experience of being destitute in Pakistan is something that no-one who hasn't seen it first-hand can really appreciate.

I'm a bit overprotective but I can't imagine such a thing from anyone other than a monster. I agree with you, something like this will just eat away at you and lead to all manner of questions. Forgetting it is much easier said than done. On a much more pleasant note, 32 weeks is really far along, WOW!!!! I am so glad that the little one is healthy. good.gifgood.gifgood.gif

Well, I can see the circumstances and the pressure and all of that but that doesn't change the fact that killing a newborn and then dumping the corpse somewhere is sickening.

All over the world, people do outrageous things because for them it might seem the only way, that doesn't make it any better though IMO.

Thank you so much! We feel very blessed to have this baby and I can't wait to welcome him into our family. :star:

It is sickening, I agree. What it highlights is the reality of the world - a dark place where horrible things happen.

That said, there are reasons why these things happen. Understanding those reasons is more useful (IMO) than simply decrying the events over the breakfast table.

I see your point. I understand the reasons behind what is happening in Pakistan. It still doesn't make it right.

Understanding an issue is one thing, accepting it, is a totally different thing.

And yes, I am aware that sometimes you have to accept things you can't change, the question would be, is this something that is unchangeable?

I am just saying, it's hard for me to read an article like that, think "poor kids" and move on, understanding the issue or not, doesn't really make a difference here.
