I badly needed an advice guys. My parent is applying for a tourist visa. She was invited by her friend to come to the US, my mother already have sll thr documents needed. Ok, initially i adviced my mother not to tell that she got a daughter here in the US so she have a chance of getting s visa (that's an advice from my friend) now i realized that is wrong for not telling to the consul because i know that might affect when i petition her. So I told to my mom when she gets her interview just tell her that she has a daughter here in the US. But the problem right now, my mom already submitted her ds 160 online and she put NO in the section if she has family and relatives. Her interview will be on August 3rd. Is there a way to change that section on here ds 160 before her interview???? thanks guys

Not being truthful (lying) on the forms and/or to the consular officer can have serious consequences. The worst being a ban on entry to the US. This could be considered a material misrepresentation.

It seems that the only course of action is for her to correct her form at the start of the interview by informing the interviewing officer about the mistake.

I am not sure once the form has been submitted you can make any changes to the form.

She can prob get it corrected during interview, she can tell the CO at the interview that she made a mistake.

So it's not going to be a misrepresentation if she tells the CO about the mistake during the interview right? I also found at that there's another error my mom made. She also forgot to put her middle name. She left it blank. I know it sounds stupid but my mom filled out the form by herself and she just learned using the computer recently.

It upto the CO how they take it and how your mom has answered the question.

The question is do you have any immediate relative in US and their status in US. If she has marked it down as none, then that could create problem.

Middlename is nothing to worry about and CO would not much care about it as lot of ppl in world dont have a middle name.

If you remember on your ealier post I had clearly told you ask your mom not to hide anything from CO, be honest with CO and they are more friendly and helpful.

Can she tell the mistake that she accidentally marked NO?! She will tell the truth anyway no matter what decision they will make. I just dont want that affect my petition to her in the future. At least she didnt lie it's just that marked really bothers me :(

She can get go with that route that it was marked by mistake, but here is the correction.

If I was in your place I would tell the CO this even before they start the interview and get to that section of family member in US.

Thanks Harsh :) we already contacted the customer service. we adviced to make a new ds 160 and bring the new confirmation number during her interview. :)
