Now, I know that I-864 is definitely something that needs to get done, and you HAVE to be over 125% poverty guidelines. This is just something that I have been stressing about. Will NVC do an RFE if your I-864 isn't done correctly? Do they let it go and let the embassy deal with it? What part does the embassy play in the Affidavit of Support?

Please don't jump at me and tell me I need to get it done correctly; I have. I'm just afraid of being denied because I will be going to the interview with my husband and don't want to waste a trip if we were to get denied because of that. Maybe I'm not being rational. I know you all understand how stressful this process is.

ETA: spelling errors.

Yes, I received a RFE from NVC for my I-864! The case will be delayed at NVC until you comply with the RFE! If your income is close to the minimum level needed the embassy could ask you to get a co-sponsor!

sent in 3-years tax returns, but only filled in the first line of block 25 with the last year's income levels. Had to complete a new form with the other 2 years listed in block 25 also, did not have to pay the AOS fee again for the revised/corrected form!

A mistake on the form will stop the process while an RFE is issued. Then you would correct the mistake and resubmit the form and any supporting documentation needed. A mistake will not lead to denial.

The interviewing officer at the embassy makes the ultimate decision. The CO weighs all of the evidence along with the beneficiary's answers during the interview.
