So, tell me again, why does some one have a personal need for a semi-automatic hand gun? I guess I just have too much common sense to understand THAT one.

what's wrong with a semi-auto pistol?

They can jam sometimes so it's good to have a revolver as a back-up.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

I know. Just being a smart-a$$ :)

Sooo Kathryn... why shouldn't I be able to legally own an semi-automatic pistol. You don't want me to defend myself? How evil of you.

i know you was. but i just can't figure out what someone would have against semi auto's. all it takes is one shot to kill someone. i wonder if this will turn into a magazine capacity complaint.

One of the biggest cultural differences between Canada and the US is the attitude toward guns and gun control. And just like I can't fully understand the mentality here in the US, I don't think any Canadian can really explain it effectively to someone here in the US. Culturally it's pretty disparate and hard to describe (and y'all know how verbose I can be...)

And I'm not anti-gun...I just view it a lot differently than I see people here do. Which is okay. But it also makes me understand why your questions and challenges probably wouldn't get answered either.

Sharon I'm really glad your son is okay. :)

Aye, I've tried, with limited success. So I just agree to disagree. ;) Thankfully, my husband understands!

Same reason the police carry them; defence against armed scum-bags.

Im a Canadian mostly and I can see the desire to own a semi auto hand gun. I can also see the need to take lessons, get a permit and deal with it in a safe way. I can even see why people want to lug them around. I dont get Trap Shooting and Range shooting though. High Powered rifles, automatic rifles etc.. that facination is weird.

Guns don't kill people, Canadians kill people

That's not even funny. I'm sure we all know there are way more people carrying guns in the US than there are in Canada. It's an unfortunate event. I had 2 friends stuck inside the college and couldn't get in touch with one of them for 4 hours. It was an awful experience and jokes are pretty insensitive at this point.

Not the first time this has happened in Montreal

Yes I heard something similiar happend in 1989

1989 Marc Lepine opened fire at Ecole Polytechnique.... his wish was to kill as many women as possible. I do believe we have a moment of silence every year on the anniversary.

I'm for banning guns and legalising the carrying of swords - those were the good old days.

Or perhaps everyone should wear a dynamite vest and carry a 'dead man's trigger', when they leave their house.
