Hi guys. My Topic Title might have confused you so here's my situation.

I got my NOA1 couple of days ago and i recieved the appointment date for my Biometrics.

But that is the day that im not available since im out of the city right now for the vacation and won't be back for the next 3weeks which is pass the

Biometrics appointment day.

So i was thinking about asking them for the re-schedule but im also concern that my process will delayed for way later because of re scheduling.

what should i do ? My appointment is in CO but im in NYC now. should i just fly over there spending money and time for the biometrics appointment

and then come back to NYC right away (since i got the tickets for the concerts and etc in NYC) or just ask them for the re schedule and do the

appointment after my vacation?

im afraid they might re schedule it for couple months later :/

Advice please ?!

Try what many people in your situation have done before: a walk in.

Take your appointment letter to the closest biometrics location and just hand it over like that's the most normal thing in the world. If they call you out on it explain that this is kind of an emergency for you and hope they accept it.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

it is not complicated: go to your biometrics appointment.

for my experience, my aos went fast too (4 months) and mostly because I went on time to the biometrics and interview.

I would recommend you avoid re-schedule and go for the biometrics appointment.Re-schedule your plans as your status is more important than a concert.. also because sometimes it can take months to get another appointment letter and because sometimes they don't re-schedule it properly and instead say you missed it and your AOS is denied.

good luck

It's not "complicated"? Maybe you missed the part where the OP said his biometrics appointment was in Colorado and he's currently in New York.

Yes. Im in NYC now and won't be back to my town untill next 3weeks which is pass the biometrics appointment date. any advice ?? :/

Find the closest Application Support Center in NYC, walk in there and explain your situation. Tell them that you made plans for this trip before receiving the biometrics letter (which is true from my understanding)and that you don't want to have to reschedule because it would delay the process, ask them to take your biometrics. Show them the return ticket that confirms you'll be back to CO after the appt date. Being in a different state is a good enough reason to take you as a walk-in, I believe.

If they refuse, you have several options: try another ASC in NYC (see above), or fly back to the appointment, or reschedule.

Good luck and let us know how it goes :)

I can tell you from personal experience that my biometrics appointment was originally scheduled for the Brooklyn office, but I did a successful walk-in at the Manhattan Varick Street location. You won't lose anything by trying - do you have the appointment letter with you? If you do, just go there, explain the situation to them, and see if they will let you do a walk-in there. Don't go when you are in a rush, make sure you have a few hours to wait around in case you'll have to wait for the people who actually have scheduled appointments for that day and that location to go before you. The biometrics itself takes 10 minutes, max, once they take you in, so hopefully they will agree to squeeze you in there without an appointment.

If you decide to do a walk-in at whatever office (NYC or in CO) before your scheduled appt, be sure to bring the original NOA for the biometrics appointment with you!

Good luck!
