My fiance sent in forms and information to get his police certificate, but it's been a month and nothing was sent back. He is in Thailand, and we have not gotten NOA2 yet, but we wanted to do it ahead, and I saw some people on the forum talking about doing it ahead of time. What is going on?

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T

Not sure of his location, but would be best to show up there in person in Pathumwan. They probably have their hands full with all this election BS.

Hey Ni-ing, I also sent away for the Thailand police certificate (I used to live in Thailand) ahead of time - 3 weeks ago. Granted with the Canada Post strike I knew I wouldn't hear back for a while. I also recommend Ice go in person and inquire. For me, if I don't get the police certificate in the next couple months, I'm going to go to Thailand myself and ask in person!

Yes, as far as I know the only address is the Royal Thai Police Headquarters in BKK. I guess that doesn't help him much if he lives in the provinces. :(

My fiancee just received her police certificate. It took about 2 weeks to receive hers. She was told prior to leaving when she should expect to receive the certificate if there was no issue. She went to the police station in person as she lives in Thailand.

Here's my understanding:

You need to download Packet 3 from here:

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas/k_packet3.html

If the applicant resides in Thailand, I would go in to the police station with all the required documents as stated in Packet 3.

I would at least wait to get NOA2 before getting the police certificate. The Case Number in NOA2 is the key to doing things beyond NVC. There will be plenty of time after NOA2 to get the police certificate.

Hope this help and good luck.

Ni-ing, Ice will have to travel to police headquarters listed in kkm's link. He will have to have pick it up in person but I have heard of people having it mailed to them since it is Thailand  . Good luck you two!

kkm, is that an old or new packet 3? If it is old it left out the certificate of unmarried or if it is new they got rid of it.

Your fiancé needs to go there in person, never heard that you can just mail the documents. Fingers printed and taking photo are required at the police clearance service center. The request documents are listed here http://pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/service.php

I went there last month, the process was really quick and took me only about 20 min. You can choose to come picking in up in person in 2 weeks or request to send by post about 2 weeks and 4 - 5 days.

The police clearance certificate is free of charge but you need to pay for the post maybe 50 baht. I am not sure because I picked it up by myself.

Cheers,

Andy, this is the latest packet 3. I did read an interview where a gal had to get a certificate to prove that she has not been marry before. Did you have to get one?

Yes, Pui had to get a certificate of unmarried. She had to travel back to her home and bring two family members and the village leader with her to the amphoe where she was born to get it.
