Crossed into Canada by land

Assuming you're driving a US plated vehicle, they want to make sure you entitled to do so. As a Canadian resident you would not be. I have been asked to show my driver's license to prove my residency. Since then I have only shown my US passport when travelling to Canada. (That time I tried to enter with my Candian one). They seemed to think I was trying to scam them (Canada) or something. Screw that.

Good advice about the US plated vehicle, btw. We will be flying to Rochester later this month and then renting a car and driving across the border to visit my Dad in Kingston. This will be my first border crossing as a dual US/Canadian citizen. I have my US issued passport card and will be using that, but taking both passports with me at least on this visit for back up purposes. I intend to declare myself as a dual citizen to the Canadian border guards - and will have my Georgia Driver's License with me as well.
