My husband has his interview on July 14th and I wanted to know if there was anything extra we should definitely send. The embassy emailed us with a list of what we should bring but on our email they said that he did not need to bring anything. It turns out we front loaded, but now we feel like we need to include more proof. I will be sending the tax returns and a few extra pictures, but I'm worried that we will need more. Also, my husband will be bringing his pay stubs and bank account information to the interview since he will still be working for his current company for the next few months.

What the embassy has (sans required documentation):

  • Save the date and wedding invites
  • Engagement party pictures with family and friends
  • A copy of us at our wedding on the front page of his town's newspaper (they wrote a blurb about us)
  • Wedding pictures with friends and family
  • Sample of almost 3 years of email correspondence
  • stamps of our boarding passes over the same amount of time
  • Pictures when I traveled with him during his work
  • My passport complete with stamps from my entries and exits
  • Pictures from all of our times together, some of which included friends and family
  • Affidavit signed and dated by my mother

I want to include some pictures of our time post wedding but my memory card is mia and I don't take lots of pictures. Will our Skype chats or Facebook screenshots where friends asked about us be seen as a positive? Should I have our co-sponsor send her last 3 pay stubs and bank acct. info?

My head is about to explode with anticipation, excitement and worry. Thanks for the help vjers!

I think so. I looked at the email again and they told him to bring his medical, his passport, 2 passport photos and "Any original documents that were requested by the NVC but were not submitted to the NVC" (of which we had none). They also said that even though the applicant may have sent copies, that the applicant is required to bring the original to the interview, but we included nearly all originals on his end.

Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone, along those same lines, I am planning on putting together a binder for pics, emails, flight itinerary and stuff like that for my husband's interview.Do they actually look at those things or should I just put it into a manilla envelope for him in case they ask??Thanks.

I think so Bob, thanks

@ Kings, I have heard they look at everything and then I have heard that they look at nothing. I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in but I think it depends on your case and embassy. I have read reviews saying that the agent had their mind made up before the interview on whether or not the beneficiary would receive the visa.

I looked at the Lagos reviews and it seems like they focus heavily on pictures and travel so in that instance it seems like you have solid evidence. Give him the envelope (or scan and email everything) because you can never be too safe, your embassy will also request certain documents once you get packet 4.

Email, pics and phone records sound good. I didn't even bother with phone records because my hubby is an officer on a ship and until Dec. 2010 I couldn't call the bridge. Not to mention that the phone number would change depending upon which ship he worked on and even then it wouldn't always be consistent. I would just look for a really long number on my id and that would tell me that it was him. Instead my husband is bringing a Skype log, and the passenger list on it since I traveled with him to Central and South America from Sept - Dec. 2010; from June - Aug we were together in Turkey, so we spent a total of 7 months (sailed with him in Feb also) together in 2010. He is also bringing some facebook emails and even wall posts where our friends have mentioned us to prove that we are a real relationship.

All I can think about is bring everything and the kitchen sink with you to your interview because Lagos is tough. Also don't bring a ton of pics; try to bring the ones that matter like you with his family and friends or vice versa.
