My husband and I have been to City Garden Suites in Manila for 4 times during his 4 visits in the Philippines. We personally like it. The money we paid worth the service we got. I will be having my interview on July 14 too and my mom and I are staying at City Garden Suites! What a coincidence! haha

Sorry to hear that......................

I stayed in City Garden Suites last October with my friends for a total of 4 nights. It was very nice with wonderful service. The breakfasts were delicious with anything you would want to eat with a quite a variety. My friends have been staying there for several years when they go to the Philippines. I would highly recommend it.

Thank you for the response.

That an American had to make 4 trips to Philippines and had to stay in Manila for 4 trips

I tell people who go to Philippines to never leave the airport in Manila, The best thing about Manila is catching a plane to another city in Philippines..............................

Thanks for your opinion. My husband and I have the opportunity to shop, dine out, and see movies in Robinson's mall. It's close to the embassy and most importantly it's clean. It's an afforable place to stay for a few nights while we see our friends and take care of business in Manila before we hop on a plane and head to our favorite vacation spots in Bohol and Boracay.

Did the Bohol thing couple of years ago, Not too impressed. Found Camiguin Island same trip much much better.

Went to PI in March was planning on hitting Boracay, put after reading about it and researching it I couldn't get too excited about it, We decided to go to Palawan, it was pretty cool and so far to date the best beaches I have found in PI and some pretty nice waves to be able to body surf on also..............

There's something about Bohol that we both love. I've been there 4 times and my husband twice. Our last stay there was for 5 days (March 2011). Bohol's Virgin Island is VERY cool. We always stay in the Panglao beach area since it's more peaceful there. It's more relaxing place compared to Boracay for us. We've spent 8 days in Boracay for our honeymoon. I personally like their powdery white sand there and the sunsets. The beach turns into a party place at night and lots of bands playing acoustic and rock songs. If you go to the station 4 area of the island, you'll see big waves. If we want to have fun at night with some beers and enjoy a crystal clear water in the morning, we go to Boracay. If we want to relax and just have a quiet time and the beach, we go to Bohol. We don't like Camiguin that much. We really want powdery white sand kind of beaches since we always snorkel. Well, there is really a white sand place in Camiguin but it disappears during high tide. It's good for picture taking though :P I never tried going to Palawan with my husband. I dunno, there's something about the place that scares the most out of me. I guess it's because of foreigners who are being abducted there. I don't wanna take chances. :( When we're talking about Palawan, we went to Baguio instead

Maybe you should re-consider going to Boracay. It's a great place - just my opinion.

Yes. You can google it. There are lots of incidents and the master mind is the Abu Sayyaf group. These are not gossip, they've been in the news - tv, newspaper, radio, and internet. I know the place is regaining tourists' trust again but like I said, I won't take chances. There are other beaches in the whole country that you can swim, snorkel, go island hopping, and enjoy without being worried. :) And that's just me and my own opinion about keeping my husband away from any chances of being in danger.

That was the 'Dos Palmas Resort Kidnapping'...it was really a one-off for Abu Sayyaf carried out at the extreme edge of their range back in 2000. They could just as well have struck anywhere in the Visayas back then. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dos_Palmas_kidnappings

I'm not aware of any other incidents like that since then...the real places to stay away from are still Basilan, Jolo and surrounding islands, where these guys are still very active.

In Palawan the airport is in Puerto Princess, and that might be the main or biggest city, but I looked at the beach and water there and it was boring, No waves, No WhiteSand, Etc, Just didn't like Puerto Princess

We took a van about 1.5 hours to a places called Sabang, Now this place rocked, all kinds of cool stuff to do and they have the underground cave which is cool and monkeys and they even have native and wild squirrels in this area.

I like cool water, with white sugar sand and nice waves and this place had it all, Not much of a night life but that's ok with me, I go to Philippines to relax and hang out.

I keep checking out the Philippines on each trip, I try to stay away from tourist places like Boracy. So I have another tripped to PI in a few months so I will keep on exploring and trying to uncover secret little hidden gems.......

I also hear a place call ElNido in the area is very cool also, but it was like a 4 hour van drive from Puerto Princess
