Hotel Soriente is great for the pesos! About $40/night for double. Ask for Caloy ... or Larry the guard. Clean quiet friendly staff - just your basic basic hotel but walking distance to St. Lukes and US Emb. I just stayed there 2 weeks ago. Best of Luck .. Paul

My husband and I have been to City Garden Suites in Manila for 4 times during his 4 visits in the Philippines. We personally like it. The money we paid worth the service we got. I will be having my interview on July 14 too and my mom and I are staying at City Garden Suites! What a coincidence! haha

I am reading your post from - my room at the Hotel Soriente! Just discovered it today. It's on J. Bocobo Street just south of UN Avenue (next to Puregold). Big rooms and clean, nice staff. 1700/nt, the best deal I've found lately.

hummm casa bocobo hotel is best..my daughter and i stayed there for 2 weeks during our medical and interview days...may 12 til 26 '11 (1950/day inclusive buffet breakfast).its just walking distance to st.lukes and embassy..

Yes, the Bocobo is nice, decent morning buffet, the rooms are modern but also quite small. Soriente is a little older but the rooms are MUCH larger (think couch, fridge, table & chairs, etc.). My wife likes it better than the Bocobo. Puregold and the BBQ chicken stand next door easily make up for the 250 pesos you save by not getting breakfast.

I'd recommend either place, it just depends on your taste. We're here tonight because Casa Bocobo was full, but I'm glad things turned out this way!

We stayed in Casa Bocobo for our medical exam. The hotel is clean and the free breakfast was okay. The only thing I did not like was hearing the roaring engines from those cars and jeepneys in my room. Its a bummer!

I do know the La Corona (Best Western was nice also from personal experience), the breakfast is very good also. My fiance's best friend stayed at the Lotus Garden, and we walked by it when in Manila and its also very nice. I think my fiance will be staying there during the medical and interview. I believe both are about the same price and both are very close to the embassy and medical center.

yeah hotel soriente is very close to the slec building..

i stayed at gran prix when i had my interview at the us embassy.. and citi state is just beside the hotel where i stayed.. and also just beside is the lotus garden... very good loc. now for the new consular building...

I stayed in City Garden Suites last October with my friends for a total of 4 nights. It was very nice with wonderful service. The breakfasts were delicious with anything you would want to eat with a quite a variety. My friends have been staying there for several years when they go to the Philippines. I would highly recommend it.
