My case completed NVC and an interview has been scheduled for July 28, 2011. I just discovered today that my ex-wife, who I had sponsored on a K-3 visa many years ago, is now a US citizen. Under the circumstances, I do not have to include her as a member of my household. This situation is advantageous to me, but how do I go about informing the embassy of the change? I have completed a new I-864 with the updated information and will post it along with a letter of explanation to my wife. She will have it in time for her interview, but should I also alert the embassy of this change? If so, how do I go about this? She is on EP at Guangzhou, China.

What you are doing is correct- ie provide new I-864 with explanation (anbd if you have it, proof the ex is now a USC). No need to contact the embassy separately.

generate NEW I-864, have wife turn it in at IV Unit, with sticky on top 'Updated I-864'

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Ah - that reminds me -

YOU COULD SEND IT VIA EP, as NVC will update the casefile in SAFEFILE, GUZ IV will see the updated version in SAFEFILE.

YUP, IV Unit - the Consulate Immigration Visa Unit, where she'll be for 2 days...

Bleuawolf had posted about this, was some sidenote that he discovered, about them sending on via SAFEFILE, http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/267559-usa-is-now-arizona/page__view__findpost__p__4100571

I hope the info is still current, NVC seems to change things up on occassion.

Last Case Resort? She'll hand carry it in, ask for I-864 update. if the document screeners are stupid (high possibility, all are chinese workers) then she'll need to carry yet another yet on interview day, give to Visa Officer that interviews her.

Yes, I remember reading that post a couple of months ago. It is more than two years old, but sending an email with the updated I-864 to both NVCguangzhou@state.gov and NVCElectronic@state.gov couldn't hurt. She already has an interview date, so I can't imagine how this could lead to a delay (or can it?). I've already sent the email to the EP email address. In the morning I'll call NVC and ask if the NVCguangzhou@state.gov address is still current. Thanks for the quick replies.

oh - they still receive at NVCGuangzhou, but NVCElectronic is the current one. It's about 11 months old, not 2 years, that post.
