NC drivers license expiring in 2 months. getting married in 1 month

my drivers license expires the same day as my visa. i will be getting married and filing aos about a month before it expires. i worried that once it expires the dmv will not give me a DL. What papers will the uscis send me that i will need to show the people at the dmv to prove legal residency?

I just showed my NOA1 and biometric appointment letter and that was sufficient.

im not good with my visajourney lingo yet. what is noa1?

thats what im trying to avoid. i want to be able to drive after my dl and visa expire.

You should check the NC DMV website. Every state has slightly different rules for non-US citizens when it comes to renewing your DL.

Definitely check with the DMV. Every state has different rules. In Virginia, they would NOT give a DL without an EAD, and even that was at the discretion of each DMV whether they were willing to do that or not (and that was WITH a SSN). Your NOA is the notice of acceptance you'll receive after you will your AOS. In some states, that is enough.
