My husband and I have our AOS interview in a couple weeks and are in the process of gathering documents we need to provide proof of bonafide marriage. I came to the US on a B2 visa when I was 8 years old have been out of status since. It is difficult for us to show any joint documents since we are currently living with his parents. We haven't been able to get a joint bank account because I am still waiting for my SSN card to be verified and sent in the mail, which may take another 2 weeks from today :(.

So far we can only provide a document showing me under his car insurance. We have many pictures together since we started dating two years ago. Many with my family and his family together and trips we took(one to NJ where he met all my uncles, aunts, cousins).

I'm trying to figure out if there is any other type of evidence we can bring to the interview. The only other things I can think of is having his mom write a sworn affidavit that we live together or printing out cell phone bills showing calls we made to each other.

I am positive that as long as we explain the situation we are in the IO will be more lenient and understanding, but it's difficult not to be a little worried. I have faith that God will guide us through it. If anyone has any suggestions it would be truly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi There!

We haven't been able to get a joint bank account because I am still waiting for my SSN card to be verified and sent in the mail, which may take another 2 weeks from today :(.

I didn't have my SSN yet when we applied for our joint account, my husband explained that we were undergoing immigration process and that we will submit my SSN as soon as we receive it. They obliged and we were able to open an account. If your husband has an existing account let him add you to that and explain the same. But if your interview is in a few weeks I guess there's not much of a point doing that since immigration wants to see active exchange of transactions for a certain time period.

As for our AOS, I made a time line of our relationship and arranged our photos in chronological order with appropriate captions and dates [Courtship, Vacations to Wedding to reception..also with friends & family]. We had affidavits from friends, colleagues and a relative. Airline tickets we used for our vacations, gifts, emails and greeting cards we sent each other, contracts we signed during our wedding preparation, receipts under both our names during the wedding, greeting cards sent to us [snail mail with postage] by friends and relatives, he made me an extension of his credit card so we sent that too, car insurance and health insurance. Any bills sent to both of you by mail or electronically. Basically anything that both have our names on it with the same address.

Don't worry much about what you dont have because there's nothing much you can do about it. Look for things that you have and work on it. With this immigration process, I learned that being extremely organized with your paper work is key. Our interview was a breeze because our interviewer told us that our documentation and evidences were in order. The only thing she asked for was my passport where she stamped my green card. Don't forget to make a copy for yourselves and bring all originals.

Good luck...I wish you the best...You can do it!!! :))))
