My husband and I have applied now for a visitor visa which was denied for lack of financial ties to home country, then for a student visa, which was denied for the same reason. Now we are at the NVC awaiting processing for IR-1/CR-1. Does anyone know if this will have a negative effect on our interview for an immigrant visa or will mentioning this help us build our case that we have been in a bonafide relationship?

I had exactly the same problem. I was denied tourist visa and student visa and before that I had a valid tourist visa which was cancelled because the person who interviewed me thought I didn't have enough ties to my country. When I went to the interview of my k1 visa I was a nervous wreck but they only asked me if I've ever been in the states and what I did before as long as your husband knows you very well it shouldn't be a problem. My advice: be ready for that question just in case!

This may give you an idea of the questions they might ask in relation to the previous visas. And on the brighter side, they might not ask at all!

I would only say that you should be thoroughly prepared to answer questions on this! They will look at previous visa petitions and consider the fact they were denied on certain grounds. I have seen this come up during my wifes interview with many applicants. However, it does not mean you will be denied.
