Congrats on the NOA2!

Yeah, that calculator should work as long as the income is from regular wages. If you're self-employed then that calculator is pretty much useless. You'll need proof that you're earning the amount of money you claim - letter of employment, pay stubs, etc. Most consulates will also ask for your most recent tax return or an IRS transcript of that return.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

wow, amazing, we have pretty much the same I-134 situation.. very very similar.. we are still waiting for our noa2 though..

we are also $800 short, my fiance also stayed in the philippines for more than 5 years because he went to the university here, he got back to the states june 2010 and got employed march 2011 so like you we cant provide tax return transcripts.. we are also quite anxious about the $800 short so we plan to use his mother as co-sponsor although co-sponsors are not allowed in manila consulate.

How did you figure that you are $800 short? When figuring out your 2011 annual income keep in mind that even though you will have worked only 11 months in 2011, you can annualize your income for the year.

Manila accepts cosponsors on a case-by-case basis. They seem to accept cosponsors if the petitioner is young, educated, upwardly mobile, and has a close relative sponsoring them.

It will help your case if you have a nursing degree. It would likely help you even more if you have already passed the NCLEX.

Are you using the "gross" or "net" pay from the calculator? That calculator presumes some taxes are paid in order to calculate the "net" pay. What's more, it's an old calculator and it uses the 1997 tax tables. The consulate will be considering your pre-tax "gross" pay.

Don't wait for a packet. The Embassy does not send a packet. They will send you an eligibility letter which tells you that you are eligible to schedule an interview.

If you don't want to wait for the eligibility letter and, if you want to speed things up, call the NVC and get your Manila case number and find out when they sent your petition to the Embassy. Then, wait about two weeks, pay the visa fee, and schedule your interview. The reason you need to wait for a couple of weeks is because the Embassy needs time to receive your petition and to enter it into their system. Once they have entered your case into their system, you are good to go. :star:
