She does and I wish I could do something to help her.

Most of the people here do. I certainly know that the men here would only be too happy to give him the bum's rush.

The marriage was stillborn, so there's nothing an Imam, Muhamed, or Allah himself could do to animate it.

The AOS will die if she does not show up.

Once he has left the Land of the Brave and Free, she either files for annulment as it has not been consummated or for divorce in absentia.

I don't know what he knows about the intricacies of the Green Card process, but she can't be alone with him anymore to avoid him finding the hidden VAWA backdoor.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

What do you need advice from an Imam about? At the end of the day, read your own words. Stop worrying about this bum (who clearly doesn't reciprocate) and worry about YOURSELF.

This is not about culture. This is about being played.

It's self-preservation time, Milky. Be safe.

Sorry to step in late-ish, but

you've got 2 issues,

--immigration

--divorce

As is, yer seconds away from an adjustment of status interview - and IF you have no wish to continue with the adjustment of status PROCESS, withdraw (in writing, via a letter) the I-864, affadavit of support, anytime between NOW and interview day

The annulment process varies by state, and is best handled at the county courthouse.

Suggest to him (with a Muallah/Imam at your elbow, in person) that he leave the house, not to come back, you refuse to be the sponser for his immigration paperwork. Perhaps the Muallah from the local mosque can find him lodgings whilst he prepares to leave the USA.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

That is what I've posted and I believe that we are all in agreement on what Milky should do. The Imam's role is to facilitate his removal from the house and help with housing arrangements until he leaves. Each post, I'd like to think, gives her a bit more courage for what is a very painful and daunting task.
