Let's go through the gamut of mate-picking.

A & B are mates. These are factors that may or may not apply to this couple:

1) A & B choose each other mutually.

2) A chooses B but B agrees only after some coaxing.

3) A person known to A and B helps A & B meet.

4) A person known to only A or B helps A & B meet.

5) A person unknown to both A & B helps A & B meet.

6) A & B meet in person.

7) A & B meet online.

8) A & B live together before marrying.

9) A & B don't live together before marrying.

10) A& B are culturally similar.

11) A& B are culturally different.

12) One or the other has more or less money.

13) They are equal financially.

14) Their relatives get along.

15) Their relatives don't get along.

16) They agree on religion.

17) They don't agree on religion.and on, and on...

A combination of one or more of the above factors influencing the relationship may be present regarding any given couple.

The success or failure of a relationship can't be doomed or guaranteed by any combination of the above or additionalfactors that are not on the above list.

Living life together creates a series of events not predictedby anything that has gone before. A way to describe theseevents is as follows:

"Shee-it happens"When it happens, either the couple can deal with it or they can't. When they can't, divorce happens. If theycan, then they are successful by default.

Some people confuse this with happiness.

No, American male (age 60) marries Ukranian woman (age ~27), has baby, keeps her at home cookin' and cleanin'. Real control freak. American men (age 60) complain about American women, visit Ukraine - one gets jacked 2x at gun-point. John Adams of WWW.LOVEME.COM gives counter argument, does a great job, IMO. Overall, fairly balanced - fun viewing.
