Question about the timeline

(I am just doingimagination here) What if I have not heard from VSC after biometrics and my greencard expires? Will that ever happen? So my conditional greencard expires on 9/1/11, and I am planning to go back home (China) 8/8 - 8/24 (probably not a good idea?) It seems like VSC is very slow on processing.... So frustrating of being uncertain and can't go back home as I planned........!

When they gave you the NOA1, you were granted an additional year on your conditional green card status. Just travel with that piece of paper.

This is correct but there have been stories about people having trouble getting on a flight back home from China using the NOA1.

Passport can still be used to leave China? NOA would be valid only for US soil, we are not US Citizens yet and will be required to follow the immigration rules of home countries, that is carrying passports.

Yes you would need a Passport but Airlines will not let you get on without a valid visa to the US.

Some of them will not accept a expired GC with NOA1,hence the problem.

that NOA-1 letter extends your visa for one year, but

who at the airport in China can read it?

suggest you go to an infopass appointment soonish,

get an I-551 stamp in passport.

I do not see the problem as you are travelling to China and returning before 09/1/2011 the expiration of your GC. The only thing that might be a problem is if you have an interview that is scheduled for when you are in China. You should be able to show your unexired GC to the airline people in order to get on the airplane.

no issue at all. You must return , hit a USA POE by 23:59 on 9/1/11 or prior..

(many ppl confuse green card expiration with passport expiration, this is not your issue, at all)
