Hello / hola,

I'm the U.S. sponsor for my novia and our case number just updated to say that we've been approved and the NOA2 is in the mail. Is there anyone who wouldn't mind answering any questions I have about where we go from here / what happens now, either on this forum or by private message?

My basic question is whether the packet that she will get requires her to submit a bunch of forms and copies of documents before scheduling the interview, or if upon receipt she can schedule the interview and just needs to bring all of the required documentation? I'm sure the packet will tell us this but I don't have a copy and won't be there in Argentina to look at it myself. The state department's K-1 visa page is vague on this point. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it !

Gracias!

Hi, I asume your fiancée is from Argentina? (Your profile is not complete).

Well, after NOA2, your case is sent to NVC and then to the US Embassy in Argentina.

They will send you the packet 3 instructions explaining all the documentation that shes required to gather. She`ll have to send the Embassy a copy of each document required and fill out some forms.

You can see the packet3 instructions in spanish here:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/308503-k1-en-argentina/page__view__findpost__p__4666456

I can email you packet3 (english/spanish) by email. Just send me a message with your email.

Yes, she's from Argentina. Sorry I didn't make that clear!

At this point we're waiting for the case to go from the NVC to the Embassy and then the packet to her.

The instructions in the packet I have seen some scans of them, they were very helpful. Thank you to whoever posted them earlier in this topic.

When she receives the packet, can the interview only be scheduled once all the forms and documents are sent to the embassy, then they will allow scheduling of the interview?

I'm just trying to get an idea of how each step occurs.

Thank you, all!

Yes, the interview can be scheduled only after she has sent all the forms and documents. They won't schedule the interview until she does so. It's important that she starts gathering all the documents as soon as possible because it takes quite a lot of time. The police certificate and the birth certificate legalized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Buenos Aires seem to be the hardest to obtain. If you need the instructions for packet 3 in english and spanish, like Yllen said, we can send them to you.

Once she gathers all the papers and sends the packet to the embassy, they will check them and make sure nothing is missing. That takes about 10 days from the moment the embassy receives the packet. After that, they will e-mail her telling her the interview date and time.If there are any missing documents, the embassy will mention what is missing in the same e-mail and they will ask her to bring it to the interview together with all the other originals. Once she has the interview, they will tell her whether the visa was approved or not.If it is approved, she will receive the passport within two weeks. In my case, I got it 5 days after the interview.

I see that your case is already at NVC.Have you called to see if they have already send it to the embassy? If not, you can contact them to the following number: 603-334-0700. Let us know if you need more help!

Okay, it's good to know where we stand as far as what will happen next.

Thanks to the help of everyone on this board we have been able to review the packet instructions and she is going to get started assembling the documents. The most difficult to obtain will be the police certificate and the certified national birth certificate, but I think we can figure out how to obtain these based on the information shared here. Thank you so much to everyone who has shared their experiences already, it's really helpful to hear from people who have already completed the process.

After that just the medical exam and comparing her vaccination records, which I hope isn't too problematic. The journey to Bs.As. itself will be long for her so I hope she can accomplish anything that she needs to be physically present in the city for (medical appointment, embassy interview), in one extended trip.

Thanks again everyone, we will be checking back. I'm sure we might have more questions, but at this point I think we have enough information to begin work!

The Police Certificate shouldn´t be a problem.

She doesn´t have to travel to Bs As, they can issue it at the Civil Registry where she lives. She just has to attend early and bring her DNI and a copy. (And a pen). Then she has to go to the Bank to pay the fee and go back. (The cost is a little less if she waits for it 5 days). She has to write and sign a note asking for the artículo 51 del código penal.

Yllen remember that in some places you don't go to the civil registry to get the police certificate. I didn't know you had gone there. I had to go to some other place. They can check online where she is supposed to obtain her certificate because it is always different depending on where you live. Also, I agree with you when you say the police certificate shouldn't be a problem. It wasn't a problem for me but I've been reading about the mistakes they made on yours and that can delay things...

Don't worry, she will be able to do the medical and the interview all on the same trip. I live in Mendoza and I did it that way. I just asked the embassy to have my interview on a Thursday so that it would give time to have my medical on the previous days. Also, tell her to contact Dr.Kelly for the medical. He was very helpful.Good luck with the rest of the process!

I don´t want to cause any confusion! I thought it was the place to go because of my experience... sorry for generalizing...

Frinkiac, this is where she would have to go in Salta for her police certificate:

Poder Judicial de Salta

Avda.Bolivia 4671 - Planta Baja
