Hi guys , does anyone know which of financial/divorce documents should be notorized - tax returns, support affidavit, banking info, etc?

Some people are suggesting certified divorce paperwork should be sent to embassy; if USCIS already accepted a copy of divorce paperwork, is there a reason for embassy to ask for a certfiied copy?

And what is the difference between certfied and notarized copy?

For me here in Canada the divorce decree I had needed to be certified but not the supporting financial info.

I did not sent any originalsupporting documents and did not notarize any of the copies or applications wepresented either in the second set of applications my fiancée presented priorinterview. She did have the originals on hand [for the just in case], butwas never an issue..

Is the embassy asking for a certified document? If they are asking I will not question it and will do it.. will make your process less stressful.

No documents routinely submitted with a K-1 petition need to have a notarized signature (meaning the live signature is done in front of a notary public and they attach a notary seal to the document).

A certified copy is a copy of a document issued by some governmental entity such as a county or State. I would think that copies of birth certificates and divorce papers submitted should be certified copies.

Certified copies are stamped (usually in color) to indicate that they are certified copies. If a certified copy is required then an actual certified copy should be provided, not a photocopy of a certified copy.
