Hey u guys this additional fee we have to pay is that for one person cuz its me and my 3 kids goin so do I have to pay for each of us 165USD?

Based on the link K_G gave everyone who will get an immigrant visa on or after Feb 1, 2013 must pay the fee after they get their visa but preferably before they enter the US. Failing to pay said fee = NO greencard but still being able to enter the country on the immigrant visa you received.

Yes but no greencard u won't be able to work so what's the sense? So I would suggest that you know you will have to pay this money no matter what so start making preparations... Tamilyn I suggest you pay your 165 for sure and pay for the eldest children month by month and don't wait too long to pay it so they get their cards k ... I am really hoping to see some huge movements in the VB

The sense would be entering the US asap. That way your visa doesn't expire and there are no future reasons that can come up and prevent you from entering the US on your F1 visa. If you can't afford plane tickets + other immigration fees + the $165 that can be payed after you enter the US then prioritize on what needs to be paid now/for the process to continue then work your way down from there. But yes it is best to put money aside so the immigration process and adjusting to your new life in the US isn't delayed.

Plus when you enter the US on an immigrant visa aren't you given a stamp in your passport that works as a temporary 1 year greencard until the actual card is received?

People usually go straight away to the USA after they are granted their immigrant visas Aadryian( that's a given, especially when you hve waited so long!!!!) my sense comes in the fact that u will not be able to get a proper job without ur greencard so u have to pay to get it! So hence I advise to start planning because we know that we will have to pay it and they give s a year... Seeing Ray for people who don't have alot of money asap... Ensure that the adults pay fr their greencard so that jobs can be secured and when they start working they hurry and pay for the other greencards... Just do proper planning my dear friends and you will be ok..

Tamilyn should receive his Interview Letter soon...Since, 9 Jan 2006 guy has rec I/L so definitely Cut-off date will be 15 Jan 2006.

So far, following is the scenario...
