Hi All:

I was hoping to get some clarification on which travel documents to bring and present for travel for various scenarios.

I am Canadian (hence, have Canadian passport), and 2 yr US permanent resident card. I plan to bring my marriage certificate as well as US driver's license since I changed last name to husband's last name.

For USA-->Canada

-I'm assuming I should show them my Canadian Passport.

For Canada-->USA

-I'm assuming I should show them both my Passport and PR card?

Is there any point to asking to have my passport stamped by both Canada and US CBP when entering each country (to prove I live in the US for >6 months yearly?)? I will be living and working only in the US for the forseeable future.

For USA--> other countries I don't need a visa to get into with my Canadian passport (my forseeable travel will be for vacations, to Europe, Canada, Mexico and possibly Asia)

-I'm assuming I should show them both documents? Do I need to ask to get my passport stamped each time?

Thanks! If others in this situation could clarify, I'd be so grateful. Thanks in advance for your answers :)

Entry into Canada: Canadian passport only

Entry into the US: Green Card and Canadian passport

International travel: Canadian passport only

You don't need your driver's license, marriage certificate, library card, or letter from your pastor to cross a border.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

the marriage certificate is because my passport is in my maiden name and the PR card are in my married name.

thanks! that helps clarify :).

You can carry a copy of your marriage certificate to be on the safe side, leave the original at home in a safe box.
