Hey there:

I met my fiance in the united states when i was and au pair, but my visa expired in september so i had to leave..my bf and i stayed in touch and i was planning on going to visit USA for chirstmas and new years eve..

Before that, I told my bf that it was hurting me to have a long distance relationship and that it was going to hurt me to see him while i was visiting and then leave him again.. so i told him that we should be friends.. and he accepted.. but he told me that he wanted to talk with me on new years eve..And i agreed..

The thing is that when i went to the embassy to have my interview i told them that my bf(at that moment we werent really together)was my friend and they even have the application where i stated that he was my friend (on the question where they ask u for a contact name).. well the thing is that i didnt get the visa for not having much ties in my country ..

and When i told my boyfriend(kind of no bf at that moment) that i didnt get the visa.. he told me that he wanted to proposed me on new years eve..but since my visa was denied he was proposing me over the phone..

so one month later we applied for a fiance visa...

Now, i am afraid that they will think that i lied by saying he wasnt my bf.. i put his name and his phone number on the tourist visa application as a contact because i knew that if something happened to me.. he was going to be the person i trusted the most.. but i said he was my friend..how will they understand that??

any suggestions

I think you will be fine, in life and love things change and they understand that- as much as USCIS would like things to be black and white they're not! That's why in some cases they allow an AOS from a tourist visa, for people in situations like yours who honestly believed they would return to their country but at some point in their tourist stay something changed and they became engaged/married. As the other poster mentioned, try not to worry about denial but rather focus on making your K-1 application as solid as possible.

And.. CONGRATULATIONS!

Hopefully it shouldn't affect it. Also, if you think about it, it might be a good thing! You applied to go for a visit, but were denied, so now you're applying for an immigration visa. It shows how much you want to go to the US!

Just out of curiosity, were you denied the visiting visa when you were at the embassy for the interview, or were you denied at the Port of Entrance?
