we got approved April 4 and got the NOA2 letter on April 9... this week I sent an email to NVC to ask about our Manila case number and here's their reply:

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

According to U.S. law, the National Visa Center is only permitted to

discuss details of a visa case with authorized representatives and when

provided with all of the following information:

* NVC case number or USCIS receipt number

* Petitioner's name and date of birth

* Principal Applicant's name AND date of birth

* Your full name

Please resubmit your inquiry with the required information.

Case Number: MNLxxxxxxxxxx

Is the above case number really the Manila case number im asking for? If it is, why did the guy still ask me to resubmit my inquiry with the information he mentioned above? Can someone clear this up please? thanks much.

most likely that is a typo and they were not supposed to type in that case number- it is probably yours

anyway email them back with the requested information including your petition number (WAC/EAC ###### etc) to make sure, or just call them and ask

it wasn't a typo... i just put xxx there for privacy purposes.. but they really sent us a case number already.. am i to assume that is already the Manila case number we're waiting for? thanks.

assume that it is and just write back for confirmation

i said it was a typo because i have received the same message from NVC and they never put a case number in that email.

A typo in that they weren't supposed to put any number on the response. You can email them with the USCIS number and get the response back with the NVC case number to confirm.

Email with NVC is not very reliable

Your statement is really funny and I find that calling the NVC is the same not very reliable, I have called about my case they have told me to call the embassy, the USCIS etc I have got nothing from them but that and the normal script

My statement is for this specific situation, calling NVC will be more reliable to get the NVC case number than emailing them and wait for the reply
