Just wondering if anyone has ever been successful in expediting their case through the Sydney consulate - or if it's even possible?? Also, would their criteria be the same as USCIS expedite criteria?

To answer my own question. Yes you can!

I received packet 4 today and had an interview scheduled for May 10th. I emailed back requesting one sooner since I have already received a job offer for the summer. Attached the work contract and half an hour later voila! Interview tomorrow. :dance:

Yea, the Sydney Consulate is very nice when it comes to working with ya. He's got a trip planned to NZ soon, and he wrote them, asking if he can have his passport back on time for that. They said to just include a letter for it, and he should get it back in time.

They were quick about the reply, too. :)

OK, I've got to ask. What date are hoping to begin work? Arriving on a K1, you likely won't be legally employable until the Summer is over.

Agreed.. August is likely the soonest one would get the EAD... I suspect I can expect to see an expedite AOS topic starting soon... Thats if the visa is issued.. one never knows what will happen at the consulate until the visa is in hand...

As far as I know, you have to wait until they schedule one for you. They send you Packet 3 which has a checklist of documents they need. Once they get that bunch of documents back, they will schedule it for you.
