I usually send emails to the embassy of Yemen, just asking for the status of my husband's case and why is my husband still in AP for 11.5months now. Usually i get the same response that he is still in AP and wait until we are called but this time, this was the response that I got:

Thank you for your correspondence.

As Embassy Sana’a is on voluntary departure status, we are assisting them with their email enquiries. Any follow up correspondence concerning this case should be sent to IVSanaa@state.gov and not this email address.

Your husband’s immigrant visa application is currently subject to administrative processing. Please be advised that he will be contacted as soon as his application is complete. At this time, due to political circumstances in Yemen, the consular section is prioritizing its resources to adjudicate citizenship claims for undocumented U.S. citizens who are present in Yemen. Their ability to process immigrant visa cases during this time is severely limited, and is further affected by staffing considerations that have resulted since the U.S. Embassy entered authorized departure status in March 2011. They will resume normal immigrant visa processing as soon as circumstances allow.

Sincerely,

Consular Information Unit/DC

Okay, I am a bit confused, this is regarding my husband's K3 visa case. Does this mean everything is on hold at the embassy? And since we are waiting for the AP to finish, i dont have to worry about the embassy, do I? Doesnt the department of state handles the visa issuing?

They might be working on the security checks while VISA Processing is suspended at the Consulate. Keep checking with the website the email they gave you to see when AP is over.

Keep an eye on when they start VISA processing after the AP is done. Good Luck

DOD handles any security checks, so I don't think the processing of the AP will be affected. However, the embassy handles the issuance of the visa and any second interview that may be needed, so if that is needed, then there may be a delay.
