Hi there, I have an ASC appointment for BIOMETRICS soon, and I know they shall be requesting for IDs bearing the name as stated in the appointment letter. The appointment letter, as in all USCIS forms which I filled out contains both my maiden name and married name. Fir instance, my appointment letter is stated this way:

Firstname- Maiden Surname (which becomes my middle name now)- Married Surname.

Rochelle-Barrameda-Smith

Well, all my ID's are on my maiden name which is for instance;

Firstname- Maiden Middlename-Maiden Surname

Rochelle-Aquino-Barrameda

Will a marriage certificate suffice, to show it both to the security officer and the immigration officer at the ASC?

I need people who have experienced the same situation and was able to deal with it, to please share their experience and thoughts on this. Many thanks...

Correct, when we did adjustment of status we applied using married name, and on the varios forms if asked for "Other Names used, or name on I-94" maiden name was placed there.

They didn't even ask me for proof of name change at biometrics, told me to fill out the form I did, they took my prints and picture that was it.

All I used to get in was my passport. Not one question asked about why it only had my maiden name on it. Security only looks at the letter then puts whatever you have with you in the security screener, I didn't bring anything in, left in the car, made it much easier.

Hi!

I had my biometrics a month ago and I also filled in my AOS using my married name. My ID was in my maiden name and my appointment letter was in my married name. The guard asked to see my marriage certificate to prove the name change. I had it with me, so everything was fine.

Moreover, after they take your picture and fingerprints, they ask you to sign on a signing pad. That signature will be on your green card. Since my card will be in my married name, I made sure I sign with my new name.

2-7-11 - Day 0 -sent AOS package (concurrent filling)

2-11-11-Day 4 - received text message from USCIS with the receipt number

2-18-2011 - Day 11[/font]- received NOA 1 in mail for I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131

2-22-2011 -Day 15- received biometrics letter -appt March 14

3-10-2011- still cannot see case online although I called USCIS two days ago

3-14-2011- Day 35- Biometrics done on the appointment day

3-24-2011-Day 45-case showing up online!!!! USCIS mailed on 3-23 my interview appt letter- April 26 is the day!

3-26-2011-Day 48-Received interview appt letter

4-1-2011-Day 59- USCIS mailed I-131 approval and ordered production of my new card (I assume the combined EAD/AP)

4-11-2012-Day 69- received EAd&AP combo in mail! Bad picture!

4-26-2011-Day 84-APPROVED!!! Card production ordered!

4-30-2011-Day 88-Welcome to America letter received

5-4-2011-Day 92 - received green card in mail (8 days after the interview) - it is kinda green!!!!
